Horrific customer experience at the Vodacom Sandton City branch

I went to the above mentioned branch on 06 June 2016 with the intention of purchasing the S7 on contract. The deal that was advertised was for R599.00 and stated that it came with a free gear VR. The only reason I chose the S7 over a different brand of phone was because of the gear VR.

At the store, I was assisted by Jabu who took all my documents and advised me that my application was pending and that it would be finalised the next day. He then advised that he will only receive stock of the pink gold phone next week after he places the order. He also stated that he would call me once the phone arrives.

On the 13th I called the store and was advised by Jabu that my phone was ready for collection and that I could come through in the next 30mins.

When I got to the store Jabu stated that he was extremely busy which is why he didn't call me to advise the phone had arrived. He then proceeded to check his pc and make a call which took over 20mins and at no point did he bother to inform me why it was taking so long. In fact, he didn't say a word to me during this period. After enquiring he said they're having system issues and that it hasn't been approved yet which made absolutely no sense because it had been a week since the documents were submitted and he told me my phone was ready for collection! He eventually got off the phone, asked me to complete the forms and come back later. No apology was given! As I was about to leave I got the sms approval. Jabu then checked the system and went to get the phone (this took about 15mins). When he came back he said there was another problem... they delivered the wrong phone and I must wait for another delivery. I asked when this would happen and after a brief conversation with his manager he stated it's in back order and he doesn't know. No explanation was given our alternatives offered! I then asked him how we should proceed, it was only then that he called the 4u store to find out if they had stock. He gave me my ID copy and told me to go to the other store. I asked if I should take the completed docs and he said no.

At no point during my interaction with Jabu did he seem interested or engaged and was extremely unhelpful.

At the 4u store I was asked for the signed docs and told that I cannot proceed without them.

I returned to the store around 17:15 after being told that my phone was ready for collection. I then had to complete all the docs again! When I enquired about the gear VR I was told that the deal ended on the 6th and that it's no longer free. I fail to understand why Jabu didn't inform me of this!

In addition, the as for the phone clearly states I get 10gb of data. I was not informed it would be pro rated as I only got 5gb.

This has been such a horrible experience. I thought excellent customer service would be top priority for all Vodacom staff members.
