Hope my message can reach Vodacom decision makers.

Dear Vodacom.

The experience that I [we] had on Friday was really unpleasant and worrying.

For more than 3 (three) hours, I couldn't communicate with my patients, hospital team and other healthcare professionals, from around 15:30 till after 18:45.

I have two Vodacom SIMs used for both personal and medical communication, and I had lost network on both. Seeking social media solutions, I'd tried the recommended Vodacom proposed kit: rebooting device and/or switching to flight mode. Nothing worked.

I had patients in ICU, follow up patients to guide and colleagues to communicate with and I've lost that for solid 3 hours plus. No phone calls, No SMS, No network 4G data.

That was a ring alarm to me, as been relying on Vodacom for my daily work (before and during Covid19 era's). It's 2020, so there is no room for network blackout.

Vodacom: kindly take note as there's no room for errors. Same with medicine.

Prof Irhuma
