Hooked WASP service on Vodacom - if you have been subscribed to these services don't just cancel them but choose the option to cancel and block all 3rd party services
Vodacom are complicit is the WASP (content) services ****s *****ing money from Vodacom subscribers. There are numerous reviews on here complaining about airtime being deducted by content services that they never signed up for, the one *******ly subscribed to my account call 'Hooked' has been specifically named in many of these complaints. I have noticed that Vodacom has rep**** and that the customers have acknowledged that the subscriptions were cancelled and airtime refunded but that is insufficient. The customers have named the content service responsible yet that same service keeps doing the same thing again and again and vodacom only act on a case to case basis if and when a customer discovers the ***** and complains. From this it seems that vodacom either think their customers are stupid and didn't realise that they did subscribe to the service (considering that by law these services require two stage authentication before a subscription is valid it would be hard to do it accidentally) or the more likely option is that vodacom are quite happy for these services to operate in an ******* manner and ***** for their customers for as long as they don't notice. This brings me to the specifics of my complaint: in December 2019 I discovered that the reason I kept having a zero balance on my vodacom number was that from October 2019 a WASP service (I'm not sure which one) had been deducting R10 per day of my airtime each month until I had a zero balance. At this point I Googled how to cancel the service, got a confirmation sms for the cancellation and left it there. Then on the 2nd of January I had an unsolicited 'carrier info' box pop up while I was using my phone, asking to reply yes if I wanted to subscribe to 'gamezone', I rep**** no and it showed a message noting that my response had been to decline and I got an sms confirmation that I had declined the subscription and would not be billed. A few days later on the 5th of January I checked my balance just to make sure nothing was being deducted and it was good that I did because from the 2nd to the 5th (apparently they don't ***** on public holidays) R10 of airtime had been deducted each day. I again went through the process again to cancel, I was able to see that the WASP service was called 'Hooked' (I don't know who they are or what services they are meant to offer). This time I not only cancelled all content service as I saw there was a option to cancel and block all 3rd party services and when you cancel one another one just takes its place instead. So vodacom are you actually going to deal with this problem properly? Yes I want a refund and for no new services to be added to my account but you need to actually deal with the ******** activity going on here, you know which WASP services are not following the correct processes so stop letting them operate on your network, if you are not acting ********ly yourselves you are damn sure acting as an accessory. Vodacom, please contact me via this profile so you can arrange to pay back the money you owe me but please sort yourselves out and actually stop this from happening in the first place, you are not some small little company being taken advantage of, you can stop this any time you want to (same goes to the other mobile networks), whether you do or not we will have to wait and see.
