High contract prices
I'm currently due for an upgrade through Vodacom and I've come to realise is that Vodacom really wants to smoke their clients on contract prices lately, maybe due to the fact that they had to decrease their prices on data.
But lets take the iPhone XS Max 64 for example. The price for this phone at the iStore is R21 999.
If you take this phone on a 24-month contract on a Smart M+ (which is an above average contract), you pay a total price of R 1449 p/m. The R 1449 is made up of R 519 for the Smart M+ contract price and a whopping R 930 for the device. If you take the R 930 over 24 months it gives you a total price of R 22 320, which is more than the price you pay for the phone cash.
So my question is, what incentive is there really for me as a client to take out a 24 month contract with Vodacom?
