HiCell and Vodacom = misrepresentation and lies
I visited your Springs Mall store on Saturday, 7th September, to purchase a new phone as my old device needed replacing. I bought a Huawei Nova 12 SE. The Huawei representative in the store assisted me with the device specifications, and I specifically inquired about the Google features, including Google Play Store, Gmail, and other Google functionalities. The representative assured me that all Google features were available on Huawei devices. Based on this information and his confirmation that he uses a Huawei device with Android Auto, I decided to purchase the device along with a Huawei smar****ch. On Sunday, I returned to the store for assistance with transferring data from my old device to the new one. Unfortunately, the technician was unavailable, contrary to what was explained on Saturday. I returned on Monday and received the necessary assistance. On Tuesday, I encountered difficulties using the device in my vehicle. On Wednesday, I contacted your store and explained the issue. Your representative requested that I visit the store so he could install the Android Auto software. 12 Sep, I visited the Springs Mall branch again. Your representative attempted to install the Android Auto software for over an hour in the parking lot, inside my vehicle, but was unsuccessful. He then informed me that this particular model does not support Android Auto after making several video calls for assistance. Upon returning to the store, the store manager informed me that the Huawei representative uses a different model than the one I purchased and that it was my responsibility to verify the phone model. I understand that the store contacted Clifton at Hicell and explained the situation. According to the store manager, Clifton's response was that the phone is now used (5 days old) and cannot be returned as “no one would take it”. The call center agent also mentioned that there is no call recording to verify the events that transpired in your store, making an investigation insufficient. For some reason, the store manager would not provide me with Clifton's contact details, hence this email. I am very disappointed that your organization is placing all the responsibility and blame on me, the consumer. As specialists in the field, it is disheartening that no one is taking accountability or attempting to remedy the situation. I do not feel that I have been treated fairly. I assume that you will apply the TCF policy accordingly… I request that you contact me on *** to discuss this matter. I would like to exchange the device for one capable of performing the functions I intended, such as a Samsung A55, S23FE, or an alternative device you can propose, except for a Huawei. May I note my points of grievance: • The store manager said that Clifton noted that because the box was opened, the device was not returnable. May I note that the box was opened by your employees before I was allowed to leave the store, so what situation will warrant the 14-day cooling off period • Your employees are insinuating that any consumer should be a specialist before purchasing a device • Your employees are insinuating that when dealing with a representative, it is the consumers responsibility to understand what devices the representatives use and make reference to. • I have been a customer of Vodacom for many years, the service I have received is absolutely appalling, I’m sure that if I was a corporate customer, I would have received a different level of treatment/ attention.
