Handed over to debt collection for service that Vodacom cancelled without notification in September

On the 22nd of September I turned to HelloPeter in desperation after a number of calls to Vodacom did not yield any results. As reported there I was informed that my fibre access had been cut as the contract was cancelled. I didnt cancel this. I received no cancellation information nor any communication to upgrade. But I was obliged to enter into a new contract over the telephone in order to have access to fibre internet, which I desperately needed over that long weekend (22 Sept over the holiday of 24 Sept). The very nice person who phoned me to address Vodacom's Hello Peter bad reviews, did not help. Though I indicated per phone log that I spoke to 3 different consultants at Vodacom (fibre, sales, connections/ reporting faults to technical team) weeks later I was informed via voice mail that only ONE call could be found in Vodacom's records, that the option for the contract I had been on, is not available anymore, that I will have to keep the substantially more expensive upgrade that I have been obliged to take up. I had no option but to succumb to this. Active since September 2023 and paid via debit order - no other options available, I was informed. Until the first week in January: to be contacted by a debt collector! For the service that Vodacom informed me was cancelled, which directly led to me being obliged to enter into a new contract. The original contract was diligently paid monthly to Vodacom. Payments stopped when the new contract's debit orders were approved. I promptly phoned Vodacom Fibre accounts, as Vodacom Fibre Sales issued the contract: no service until Monday. Apart from being handed over to debt collection, without so much as a warning or a phone call, the question remains: if it is not true that the original service and contract was cancelled (did someone lie? was this misinformation? deliberate misinformation?), why was I obliged to enter into a new and more expensive contract. If it indeed had been cancelled - why I am being handed over to debt collection. Yet another bad customer experience from the company who claims: "If you are looking for the best uncapped fibre deals, look no further than Vodacom Uncapped Fibre"
