Handed over for collection falsely
I left SA 2 years ago but before leaving, I paid Vodacom the outstanding balance of my contract.
2 Years later, my sister gets an SMS from a company called VVM informing her that I owe Vodacom money. I contacted the number provided and found out it was a collection agency acting on behalf of Vodacom. I immediately contacted Vodacom, who acknowledged that due to an admin error on their part, my payment was reflected as a forward payment and not a closing of the account.

You would assume that they would apologise for:
1) Causing me undue embarrassment by allowing their hound dogs to contact my family - obviously a breach of my data protection rights
2) Wasting my time and money (as I had to ring them from the UK).

The very friendly chap in their legal department informs me that he cannot help me as the account was handed over for collection and I would need to deal with this ruthless 3rd party - who I had no contract with. This company has bombarded me, since, with emails on a near daily basis including weekends.
I emailed Vodacom and asked them to resolve this. I have had no response to this mail dated 18th September.

Total lack of respect for clients - Disgrace
