Handed over by Vodacom for a contract that was paid in full (over 2 years ago)

2 Days ago I received a Final Notice email from Norman Bissett & Associates stating that my Vodacom account was overdue and that I have to make payment arrangements. At first I thought this was a joke or junk email as I do not have any Vodacom accounts, until I looked at my phone messages to find the same urgent Vodacom payment request. When I contacted the Nimble Group (the debt collectors) listed on the email. I was informed that Vodacom was claiming for an Autopage handset linked to an account I closed 2 years ago. According to Vodacom I never paid for the phone.

I’m sorry but I find this claim quite shocking as Vodacom placed a stop order on my account for monthly payments and all the invoices show that the handset was included in the monthly payments. When the 2 year contract ended I cancelled my contract in writing and even have the last invoices showing that I had a zero balance with Vodacom.

What’s really scary is that because of false claims laid against me without my knowledge, as this alleged claim has been made 2 years after my contract ended I could easily be placed on a bad debtors list and not even know it.

Imagine walking into a store tomorrow and being refused credit because of a ********** claim by Vodacom.

Furthermore how many other people who have ended contracts have been falsely forwarded to debt collectors by Vodacom.

I will definitely not be opening a Vodacom Account ever again.
