Goodbye Vodacom hello Cell C

On Sunday 05/03/2017 I decided after receiving a call from Vodacom Direct to visit Vodacom shop in Eastgate. After enquiring about different deals for Data,I mentioned to the lady consultant that through the phone they offered me a deal of 5 GB Data day and 5GB night owl for R 199.

She told me that probably the offer was wrong because on her catalogue it was showing 219 and all vodacom offers were the same????. I decided to sign the contract as she was very pleasant.

Walking out of the Vodacom branch, right opposite there is a Vodacom 4U branch and to my suprise they were advertising the same for R199 ???

Walk back to Vodacom shop but she in the meantime went for lunch. Left my name, phone number the catalogue that was advertising the special and requested for the contract price to be adjusted or the contract to be cancelled as I had not even open the box or Sim.

She did not phone me and I send my wife to enquiry as I went to work (yes, Sunday afternoon).

Once confronted by my wife, the consultant phone me saying that the manager was not in the branch but it was too late as she herself activated the line??? (Suprise... even now is still not showing on my app)

Next day again I send my wife and the manager (Nero) although pleasant to talk using my wife phone (probably he realises that Vodacom prices are too high...)said that he was sorry but he could not do anything on his side but recommended me to phone Vodacom direct.

Once I phone them they told me that the information he gave me was wrong and only at branch level they could change the contract or cancel!!!!??????

I found some interesting food for thought.

1. Had I order from Vodacom Direct I would be entitled to a seven day cooling period as well as to the same contract at R199 .

2. Once you sign in a vodacom outlet everyone seems quite helpless in assisting you.

3. According to manager of branch there is no cooling off period on contracts sign even if the attempt to cancel is done in a space of 10 minutes of having signed and as well alterations on the price can not be done at the store level ( it is up to us to take it further, probably because vodacom staff are too busy assisting new victims and once you sign and become a client you no longer important).

It is not so much the R20 difference per month on the same contract from the same company but to me is a matter of principle.

So today I phone cancellations and gave notices to cancel 2 contracts that are due to upgrade in my name and further 2 within 6 months will follow.

So goodbye Vodacom , Hello Cell C.
