Good luck trying to Cancell your contract

Trying to cancel a contract at Vodacom is like trying to find gold at the end of a rainbow. I had 2 Contracts for over 20 years with Vodacom and due to immigrating made the mistake of trying to convert them to pay as yu go for a while. The saga started on 16th December when I called the Vodacom Cancellations call center and asked to cancel the lines. After pretty prompt service I never received the promised SMS and called a week later. Obviously the agent did nothing the first time, and I had to ask for a cancellation again.

This time I received an SMS on one of the numbers and nothing on the other, so I called a week later again now 3 January. This time the agent converted over the phone that the line will be converted the end of Jan. 27 Jan the first line is converted a few days early but I am ok with that and then waited for the other line to be cancelled.

Obviously nothing happens, and I call the 8th of Feb again. At this stage my plans have changed a bit thanks to Covid and I request to speak to a manager and that they convert my line end of March (a number of times) to Pay as you Go. At this stage the agent confirms that the line is cancelled end of Feb and I ask again for March and he noted that it was too late. I then just giving up with bad services said that it was ok.

11 Feb I tried making a call and low and behold it is pay as you go and I have no more minutes. Added that I had over 600 minutes left. At this stage I decide to just leave it as phoning again would not make sense. End of Feb I get a bill from Vodacom for the full month, and tried calling. Now it is a major mission as cancellation cannot be called if you have a pay as you go number and I keep on getting disconnected after a bit of a roundabout a agent from the normal call center puts me through. I speak to an agent who tells me I should have called on the 11th and that they would have told me that I will be billed for the full month (and I am not making this up).

So now it is my fault they got the dates wrong and then billed me for a full month nothing they did... so *****ing is not their fault..... She however logs a case to pull the recording and will get back to me. This is now 2 weeks later and I cannot call the cancellations department as I have a pay as you go number. No one has called me back and I am sure they just ignoring me.

Please do yourself a favor when cancelling with Vodacom get the details in writing, dont trust anything they say and good luck.

very unhappy customer
