Good Call center - but bad corporate business practices for Vodacom Fiber

Specific to Vodacom Fiber service - I received a mail saying that my monthly premium is going up from 1299 pm to 1499 pm and that it is for a 1000/500Mbps Uncapped service. The mail had a number to contact if I had an Issue. I phoned the number, as I currently have a 400/200Mbps Uncapped line that I am perfectly happy with - and that I do not want to have an increase. the Agent (very helpful and kind - Luvo) said that he knew that there was a yearly increase on the way - but he had no idea about the Package change and that he could see nothing on my contract? He asked me to forward him the mail and that he will raise an Service Request for it (he actually phoned me back to ask me) It seems as if Vodacom is Upgrading, and increasing fiber contracts, without the client's consent? Luvo asked me if there was some kind of a 'Accept' or a Yes or No button on the mail - but there is nothing - it is just a notification.

Is this a fair business practice? Increase and Upgrade, and hope that the client does not realize it?

Also last year I wanted to cancel my contract (as the line was unstable for about a week) and the Vodacom Retentions dept told me that I am still tied into a contract with them and that I cannot cancel my Fiber contract for another year and a half. Luvo checked for me and he says that my contract expired in 2022 already an that I am on a month to month contract? Again this does not sound like a fair business tactic - I am looking for another service provider currently
