Frustrated customer
I lost my phone last week Thursday. On Friday I bought a new simcard to make a sim swap.when i called in on Friday evening, a lady by the name Veronica who was assisting me told me my number is on contract. That was something knew because i never took a contract with vodacom. My number i have been using for almost 7 years on prepaid. She told me there was a promotion that was running whereby we were getting R50 for 12 months.. I told her i remember the first day i got that R50 airtime i phone in at Vodacom to inquire about it because i knew i didn't buy r50 airtime.the person that was helping me told me it is just a promotion it will not affect me in any how in future. Ok back to Veronica, i asked her now why was my number now on contract. She said with that promotion they were doing,my number was changed to contract. i asked how does that happen without my consent? She told there was a third party that was paying for our R50. I told her that still that does not answer my question, Why was my number put on contract without my consent? Because I from my side when i saw r50 i did ask them they said i must not worry this is just free airtime.I asked her to please remove it from contract she said she can't. I asked to please speak to her manager she said there are no managers available. I asked her surname she told me as Vodacom Consultants they are not allowed to say their surnames. so she just told me to get a contract sim card in order to be able to do sim swap. As unhappy as i was on the following I took a taxi to Khayelitsha Mall.. when i got there i found out there is no Vodacom anymore. I had to take another taxi to Promenade again. Only to found out when i get to Promenade that my number that i have been using for almost 7 years. That is linked in almost everything i use, is not on my name..i aksed the lady assisting me how is that possible, but they said they can help me get the knew contract simcard to do my sim swap.so i bought it with R65..so that means i have not used R120 including transport money to just get my number back. i asked them to do the sim swap wich i am ready to pay whatever amount just to get my number back they told me they don't do sim swap... i asked the lady how is that true when the Vodacom in Parow Centre does the sim swap for R60. She told told me different shops operate in different ways even though they are all vodacom shops. She gave me the number to call... I called the number i was assisted by the most professional gentleman. As frustrated as I was taking my frustrations out on him, He told me I cannot do contract sim swap over the weekend i have to wait till Monday. He sent me the number to phone which not a toll free number. so that means i have to spend more money for airtime for something i never signed up for, something i never agreed to. Came Monday the 16th i hpone so early in the morning few minutes before seven. The lady took down all my information then later told me to wait 72hours for the sim swap to be through. today i phoned again, only to be told i need to go back to the vodacom shop and spend more money because my number was deleted sometime last year...haiboo how was it deleted when i have been using it for 7 years till last week Thursday when i lost my phone. HE plainly and carelessly to just go to the shop there is nothing he can do. 1 week later i still do not have my number and there is still no hope that i will be helped. I am really not happy with vodacom. I can't access my bank, my kids school teachers cannot get hold of me. so basically my life is stuck because of what vodacom did on my sim card.
