********** Vodacom Account Saga

Identity theft is real. My details were used to open a Vodacom account. I remained oblivious until the ********** account went into arrears & I started getting regular calls from the Vodacom call centers. Each call operator gave me different instructions on how to deal with the situation (some more politely than others) and it was the last one who gave the correct instructions. It involved me going to the Police Station to make a sworn affidavit that the account was not mine - the rest of the events below.

The order of events: 29 October 2018 - Affidavit sent to ***** division at Vodacom 01 November 2018 - Confirmation e-mail from Vodacom that e-mail & document were received 04 November 2018 - Confirmation of ***** e-mail from Vodacom (Reference: EC-1KS5-21KRDF)

Happy days! It was over & done, or so I thought.

Then the harassment started: 22 November 2018 - Telephone call from some debt collection agency (downright rude and obnoxious) - contact Cecilia De Witt 05 December 2018 - SMS reveived "Legal action commencing" - Cecilia De Witt *** 05 December 2018 - I sent a mail to Vodacom ********** informing them of the received SMS & asking them to contact Cecilia person to clear the situation up 22 February 2019 - Telephone call from Jacobs Burnard & Associates 23 February 2019 - SMS from from Jacobs Burnard & Associates (Reference: I ********** ) 23 February 2019 - I have sent another mail to all the Vodacom e-mails I have including the latest debt collectors ********** ********** ********** ********** **********

Here is hoping the message filters through so I can stop being harassed about an account that wasn't mine to begin with. The Vodacom ***** Team were quick & efficient except for the part where my details were and still are being passed onto third party dept collectors.
