********** upgrade by Vodacom
In October 2020 I discovered that Vodacom, King William’s Town had upgraded my cellphone contract without my consent and started deducting money from my bank account. When I lodged a complaint with Vodacom the amount deducted had already accumulated to R+-12 000. Upon my visit to Vodacom the manager requested that I sign two documents; 1. Acceptance of a quotation for the upgrade, 2. A letter stating that the upgrade was done telephonically and that I was not happy with the contract. I refused to sign these documents as both were not true. During the process of attending to my query instead of Vodacom Head Office taking swift action to correct this injustice they expected me to initiate action, such as going to the police station to acquire an affidavit to open a case of ***** and further requested that I cancel my debit order with my bank. I made it clear to Vodacom that I did not play any part in this ********** upgrade therefore I will not lift a finger to resolve this issue. It was done by Vodacom and I expect them to resolve the matter. Only after I threatened them with legal action did they assure me that they would do a reversal and I will be refunded in full. Instead of them refunding my R12000 they deducted R12000 from my account. Vodacom has now de*****ed me with the amount of R+-24000 and show no urgency of resolving this matter soon. I am deeply hurt and infuriated by this incident and believe there should be severe penalties for companies treating individuals with such disrespect. I am helpless and feel that I am at the mercy of Vodacom’s decisions on their terms. It leaves me with no option but to take legal action and insist that Vodacom cover all costs including time lost and interest of the monies owed to me. Shame on you Vodacom!
