********** Upgrade and Blacklisiting

I took out a contract 2 years ago for R199, a month later, there was someone trying to use my details to commit identity *****. Eventually nothing came of it as most service providers identified that it was *****.

Two years later when the contract is due for upgrade or cancellation, I call in around Jan , early Feb 2018 to cancel the contract. Vodacom advises me to call at a later stage to cancel it as the contract has another month or two before I can cancel.

On the 28th of February 2018 a ********** upgrade is done using my details at a branch in Cape Town Tygervalley. I live in Johnannesburg and was nowhere near Cape Town on that date. My origin contract amount was R199 and the upgrade was for the amount of R999.85.

I called in to report ***** and tell them the whole story of not needing the contract any longer. Two months later, the ***** was confirmed via sms, there is only an email to communicate with the ***** department and there is hardly any feedback.

The balance was written off for the ********** amount of the R999.85 for the various months. It was fine. I then get a call from Vodacom collections telling me that I am in arrears for R700-R800 due to me not cancelling my contract.

Firstly I had indicated in the email that I did not require this contract any longer. Vodacom has been negligent in issuing an upgrade when clearly the person going into a branch did not look like me. Secondly I was expected to identify the portion of the R199 value from vodacom while the contract was **********ly upgraded. I wonder how one does that.

This morning I was told that this R700-800 is going to affect my good credit rating. And now I am expected to contact another department. I did email the disputes department after the collections department called me, their is still no reply.

My advice - Stay away for Vodacom if you can. I will certainly never use them again.

I really hope that this issue can be resolved and put to rest. I am tired of the back and forth over the last 3-4months .

Thank you
