********** Upgrade

I have a sim card with a 5GB MBB 24 month – TopUp contract. This sim card is only used in a USB modem and the monthly fees I pay totals R259.00. On the 12th of October I notified Vodacom that my September statement contained incorrect items. I was billed for a Migration Fee, Handset Instalment and my data bundle has been changed to a Smart More Data 4GB. All in all the total increased to 1,249.01 which was debited from my account.

I was informed by the call centre agent that this was a ********** Upgrade and that my next step should be to get an affidavit from the police to explaining the situation and that I did not request or approve any of the changes made to my account. As requested this document and a verified Id was sent for allocation to this reference number 1- ********** 5152.

On the 14th I received an SMS indicating that my query was escalated. A minute later another SMS informed me that my query had been closed. On the 17th an SMS that the query had been closed. On the 20th, yet again the query had been closed. And on the 22nd I received on indicating that “Network Synchronisation” had been activated presumable related to the ********** Upgrade.

I contacted the call centre a number of times during this period and nobody can tell me what is going on or how long the “investigation” will take. Also, since the month is coming to a close I expect that as this issue has not been resolved that Vodacom will bill me for this ********** Upgrade again!

Regarding this point the Call Centre agent I spoke to on the 24th of October agreed that cancelling my Debit Order with my bank might be a good idea to protect me from Vodacom *******ly billing my account. Of course I have other phones which are paid by that Debit Order and having all of them cancelled just because 1) Vodacom allowed this to happen and 2) Vodacom doesn’t seem to take resolving this very seriously will cause me more problems.

I would like to know the following from Vodacom:

1) When this will be resolved. Can someone who knows what is going on communicate with me?

2) How will you stop my account from getting billed incorrectly in the second month.

3) Why would you let this happen in the first place?

The story continues... To date I have had no sensible feedback from anyone at Vodacom regarding this matter. I have repeatedly spoken to people at the call centre any to a person they know nothing. Nobody can tell me whether the ***** department is looking at it, struggling or even showing any interest in this. The costs of this ********** upgrade has now been deducted from my account twice – even though I specifically asked that Vodacom NOT take money out of my bank account *******ly.
