*****ulant activity- additional line added and billed without my conscent

An additional line has been added and billed to my Vodacom account without my authorization and consent. I currently live in the United Kingdom and have a Vodacom account. I have only ever authorized one phone number on this account which I have never defaulted on any costs/payments associated with this phone number. I currently do not have the SIM card associated with my Vodacom account in my phone and the last time I inserted my Vodacom account SIM card into my phone was in May 2017 when visiting South Africa on holiday. I received an invoice dated 1 December 2017 which included an additional phone line linked to my account. I did not authorize this line to be added to my account. The December invoice included R703 worth of calls as well as subscription fees for the additional line, which I did not authorize. When I realized that costs associated with a line I did not authorize (nor had made any of the calls) had been debited from my bank account, I ensued that the debit from my bank account was reversed. Once I was alerted to the fact that I was being charged for costs associated with a line I did not authorize, I looked back at historic invoices and noticed that a connection fee was invoiced to me in November 2017. An invoice dated 1 January 2018 had a total of R5 821.93 worth of calls and data included on the invoice associated with the unauthorized line. I have tried to call Vodacom ‘Customer Care’ numerous times to cancel my account with immediate effect, however, each time I call the Customer Care line I am told a different story and told to call another number, eventually landing back at ‘Customer Care’ with another conflicting story. The latest being that it is impossible to report this case of ***** without physically reporting the case at a South African police station and Vodacom cannot assist me because my account because it is in arrears. I find Vodacom’s response to this utterly unacceptable and the call agents have been nothing but rude and unhelpful.
