***** committed in my name

Please read the e-mail below sent to Vodacom. (I have removed the names to protect myself and the integrity of the Vodacom staff as this investigation is yet to start)

Good day

On 11 January 2017 I receive an SMS stating that a new cell phone contract had been taken out in my name.

It also stated that if I am not responsible for doing this I should call customer care (111). To which I responded.

I was then put through to “After Sales” and then to the Vodacom salesperson by the name of...

Who then had claimed someone had called in claiming to be me

This apparent impersonator could confirm all my personal and banking details according to the salesperson.

I had then asked her to please arrange that I listen to this sales call, to which she stated that I would have to speak to her Team Leader...

While awaiting the call back to determine the next steps I went to Vodacom Howard Centre, Pinelands, Cape Town and saw on my profile the delivery address

For this new phone was for Durban University of Technology, Scottsville, Pietermaritzburg. Before I could record the street address we were kicked out of the system

And when we logged back in that information of delivery address had been removed by someone who had access to my profile (Vodacom employee).

This raises the question that if that sales call exists (which would be somewhere before 13:53 when I received the initial SMS) points to an external person.

If there is no record of a call as the salesperson... claims then an internal ***** investigation should be initiated.

I am appalled by this attempted stunt, which really raises feelings of doubt and insecurity regarding the safety of my confidential information with Vodacom!

This has been a huge inconvenience for me as I had to make multiple phone calls to Vodacom and drive back and forth to the police station to seek advice and documents.

This matter will also be taken further no matter the outcome of the investigation to multiple media sources and I will most likely seek my own legal advice for further steps.

I have attached a copy of my ID, an affidavit stating that I had NOT taken out a contract yesterday, as well as screen shots of the texts received from Vodacom and the times of the calls I had made.

Please listen to my calls as well, where the salesperson states that someone had called in pretending to be me!

Thank you, and I look forward to your response.

I am still awaiting feedback on the apparent sales call from the team leader who stated she will have the Quality Team send it to my nearest Vodacom shop (Howard Centre, Pinelands)

the latest:

I would not have shared this on this site today. However, after receiving an SMS from RAM Couriers that they have my parcel and will deliver today between 8am - 5pm I am disgusted in Vodacom for NOT cancelling this ********** sale. I need answers ASAP. And the ***** division has still not gotten back to me after submitting my documents yesterday!
