***** claim

I had enough with Vodacom. On 29 July I received an SMS that my details were updated for the credit limit increase, I immediately called Vodacom because I have a 2 gig monthly contract only with them. I was told there is a purchase that took place; I told them I did not purchase anything. I was told to sign 3times on my id copy and email it to the Vodacom ***** department, the consultant provided me with the email address. I then received the auto-reply that the claim investigation will take up to 14 days. I gave them 20 days I still received no feedback, I emailed the ***** department on 21 August for the follow-up. No one rep**** to my email. On 27 August I went to Vodacom shop in centurion, the lady told me that they are in the final stage of closing that ********** account.

I again received a statement this month that reflects a huge amount that I know nothing about. Yesterday on 09 October I went to centurion mall again to find out as to what is happening, I spoke to the lady by the name of Anna who told me that the account is still opened, that in order for that ********** account to be closed I must go to the branch where the ***** account was opened!!! Like seriously!!! This is what I asked myself, 1. Why was I advised sending the email to the ***** department if it is useless? 2. I don't even know the area where the ***** took place, 3. Isn’t Vodacom using the remote system? What if the ***** took place at about 600 km away from where I am, will I be required to go there for the account to be closed?

What annoys me a lot is that I had the same problem with Vodacom last year, someone did sim swap on my number and took out another data contract, I was promised that they flagged my account to prevent ***** from taking place on my account. The question I asked is; what happened to the flag? HOW DID THIS PERSON MANAGE TO GET AWAY WITH ***** ON MY ACCOUNT? I was told that the flag falls away in 6 months! Why I was not told to come and re-instate the flag every six months then?

My line of work does not allow me to have unpaid debts, so I really can't afford to have such a huge amount under my ITC profile it will destroy my career.

When opening accounts with Vodacom one is required to bring their identity document, so how is it possible for the ***** to take place in the branch? Is the consultant not supposed to do customer identification and verification?

Vodacom please resolve this query immediately!!
