In September 2019 I received a call from the Vodacom upgrades department to upgrade my contract. I went ahead with the deal but when I received the phone I realised it would not be suitable so I contacted the after sales department at Vodacom. They told me that the phone would be collected and once they receive it I can contact the upgrades department and get a more suitable phone. A few days later I received someone rang my doorbell to and said they were there to collect my phone. I let them into my house and gave the man in a Vodacom T-shirt my phone in the unopened box. I then asked him if there is anything for me to sign to say he has taken the phone. He told me no, I must just contact Vodacom in 24 hours. This was a Thursday afternoon, so I only phoned Vodacom on the Monday. The told me they hadn't received the phone which was collected on 3rd October and that I should try again on Wednesday. I phoned again on the Wednesday. Still no phone. Then when I phoned the next time they started asking me questions....was is a RAM courier that collected the phone? I told them it was a white Chev bakkie and the man was wearing a Vodacom shirt. They then told me that they will have to look into the case as it looks like its *****. I did not hear back from them. Eventually I was sick and tired of speaking to a new call centre consultant every time I phoned and explaining the story and I asked to speak to a team leader-Christoper Munyani. I explained my situation to Christopher and told him I have video footage of the bakkie and man coming to collect the phone as well as photos of the car and registration number. I was told to email them through and he would get back to me. He did not get back to me so I tried to phone him, left messages for him to call me back but he never did. Whenever I asked to speak to him he was unavailable. Eventually I spoke to Mpho in the after sales department. She told me that on the system my contract has been reversed and it was a ***** case. my monthly debit order would go back to the original R350 and I could contact the upgrades department and see what deals they have. I said I would rather go into vodacom store when I had time because I had such a bad experience with doing the upgrade over the phone. A week later R1800 was taken out my bank account. In a rage I phoned the after sales department and demanded to speak to Christoper. I was told he was in a meeting (the usual excuse I got every time I called to speak to him) I told the consultant to get him out the meeting and that I speak to him immediately!! Christoper came to the phone and checked my account. He said the money that went off was for the phone that was missing and it was a mistake. He said that he will escalate the situation immediately and I will have the money back in my account on Monday 11th November. I waited until Wednesday 13th November. Still no money in my account so I phoned Christopher and once again I was told he was not available. He was on training and would only be back in the office on Monday. I then demanded to speak to someone higher up than Christopher and I was going to cancel my contract because of this horrific experience and service from Vodacom. I was put through to the manager in the escalations department-Phillip. He assured me that the refund was being processed and it usually takes 7-14 working days. He gave me his cellphone number and said I could call him if the money is not in my account on Monday 25th November. The money was not in my account so I phoned him. When he answered I explained who I am and that the money was still not in my account. He quickly cut me off and said he would look into to and phone me back. He never did. I tried phoning him back on Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning and afternoon but he just ignored my calls and voice messages. Eventually on Wednesday afternoon I phone the cancellations department to cancel my contract with Vodacom. I spoke to Steven and once again I had to explain the whole story. He looked into my account and he said the refund as been done and my vodacom account has been credited with the money owing to me. Not once in any of my conversations was I told the my account would be credited . I was told the money would be paid to my bank account!!! I am so fed up with Vodacom and their pathetic customer services!!! Not only was my family and my safety put at risk by allowing some stranger into my house to collect the phone, Vodacom also took unauthorised money out my bank account! I have also not heard what has happened to the man who came to collect the phone?? is he still working at Vodacom?? I will be contacting the SAPS and well as Carte Blanch to investigate this ***** case as I feel that someone at Vodacom as breached the confidentially contract between its customers and has allowed private information like my address to be put into that hands of *******!!!! I have also cancelled my contract at Vodacom and will make sure that everyone I speak to hears about this horrific experience I have had with Vodacom!!!!!
