My mom had a contract with vodacom and paid R50. This contract was for my little sister, she lost her sim card and never sim swapped. So since its a contract sim stayed active and my mom thought the contract would lapse once its 2 yr period ends. Little did she know someone had noticed an unused contract and such a person upgraded it and got a contract for R900. Upon my mom getting this amount debited she quickly reversed it and brought it to vodacom's attention. They asked her for an affidavit etc which she supp**** and then after vodacom became silent and a year later they asked her to pay her bill she had to resend the documents again and then vodacom became silent again and recently my mom is being contacted by debt collectors saying she my pay R17000 for a phone never had or ever fetched. I wanted to know with regards to procedure, do you not need to present ID when upgrading even if it is just to verify your face? So is it not vodacom that suffered from ***** as my mother never signed or upgraded her contract all she needed to do is give a notice after her contract became a month to month. We need help on this matter and seems nobody is helping. I mean when the phone was fetched, are there no cameras in every vodacom shop? Did anyone investigate the matter? I have all the documents my mom kept through the years and can send them.
