Formal Complaint Regarding Misrepresentation and Lack of Assistance
On 26 November 2024 at 15:07, I received a call from a Vodacom agent ***) offering me a migration plan for two of my cell numbers, allegedly at a reduced cost compared to my current payments. On 27 November 2024, I received an email after hours containing a quotation (Quotation Number: ***). Upon reviewing the email on the same date, I discovered that the migration would result in a charge of R509 for one number, which is substantially higher than my current monthly payment of R341.
To address this discrepancy, I visited the Vodacom shop in Greenacres, Port Elizabeth, with the intention of canceling the migration. At the store, I was provided with two contact numbers (*** and ***) for further assistance. However, after multiple attempts to reach these numbers, I received no meaningful support.
On one occasion, I successfully connected with an agent. Unfortunately, during the mandatory security check, the call was abruptly disconnected. The agent failed to return my call, leaving me unable to resolve the issue. Given the nature of the call center system, I was also unable to reconnect with the same agent.
I am now burdened with a higher monthly expense due to the agent's misrepresentation during the initial call and the subsequent lack of adequate support from Vodacom customer care.
Additionally, I have three other contracts that I wish to cancel, but I am unable to do so as I cannot reach a representative who is able or willing to assist. This lack of accessibility and support has caused significant frustration.
I hereby request Vodacom to: 1- Immediately address and rectify the higher charges resulting from the misleading migration offer. 2- Assist with the cancellation of the three additional contracts as requested. 3- Provide clear guidance on how I can escalate unresolved issues in the future.
Failure to address these matters satisfactorily may compel me to seek recourse through formal channels, including lodging a complaint with the Consumer Protection Ombud.
