Forfeit my data because of contract cancelation?

After been a client of Vodacom for 20plus years, I had to cancel my contract because fast approaching pension. It was a real battle to convince Vodacom to cancel my contract. At the end Vodacom send me an email that states that my data and call monies will forfeit because of my cancelation. But I paid for it? Anybody got the same problem?
