Forced to pay cash for a contract phone!
<p>Hello, a year ago I went to vodashop to get a vetting for a cellphone contract. I submitted my details and I was approved for a handset upto 600 ZAR per month. I didn't take a phone! Tried the second time, approved and didn't have the CAT handset so I cancelled. Then this year Feb 2016 is my wife's birthday + plus anniversary and I also was showing my appreciation for her giving my second son, I went into the same branch, vetted was approved and finally took up a huawei P8. lite @ 199 per month with 100 free minutes , plus data and free headset. This was the perfect gift. </p> <p>I did all the paperwork and signed for the handset! Valentines, my wifes birthday and the anniversary passed and I hadn't received my handset. I walked into the branch to find out and was told that my handset was given to another customer and that another would be ordered! I was ****ed but kept calm. So to prove to my wife that I had got something I handed the phones proof of contract! 3 weeks later the phone arrived. I go to the branch for the handset but there's no free gift with it anymore as the one with the gift was given to the other customer! I keep my cool , head down sign for collection and take my surprise home. Life is wonderful at home. </p> <p>1 week later I get a call, we sorry sir but we would like to request the handset back or you need to pay 3900 as your contract has been declined! </p> <p>No ways you have the wrong person, my account was approved, I have proof plus the handset!. </p> <p>I go to the branch and I'm just told that I need to pay or return the hàndset or they will black list it! </p> <p>Fine I can't return it as the whole world knowx that I bought her a P8 lite so I have no option but to take a Wonga loan and pay R2000 cash and the balance the ffg month. Just to ensure I avoid embarrassing my wife. The following month my finances don't work out as I had budgeted for 199 a month and not 2k plus.</p> <p>Now the consultant keeps calling me telling me that the store wants to deduct the balance from her pay and that the phone will be blacklisted and this isn't going too well with me.</p> <p> </p> <p>Firstly this store messed me around, making me wait nearly 2 months for the handset.</p> <p>Secondly: they then made me pay 10 months upfront ( I hadn't planned for)</p> <p>Thirdly: messed my finances by making me take a loan to pay the contract which was approved at 199 a month </p> <p>Fourthly: failed to deliver the gifts that was supposed to come with the handset as per the deal I app**** for.</p> <p>Fifthly : took my handset and have it to another customer as I'm less important or a push around.</p> <p> </p> <p>Now the consultant is being threatened with short pay and I'm being harrased to pay 1900 where as I have even finished paying the 1sy losn brought upon me </p> <p>Is this Fair? Is this how vodacom operates? I would really like clarity on this matter!</p>
