Recently I sent my iPhone 6s in to be repaired/replaced. The device is 5 months old with absolutely no damage on the whatsoever. This can be seen as stated on the report the sales rep filled in for me.
I dealt with CelluCity Tygervalley, who have given very good service throughout the entire process that followed.
The phone was sent to JHB to be assessed and I waited the 7 working day period. I was notified that the phone was ready for collection at CelluCity.
Working weekends, I had to take time off from work to collect the phone and when I arrived, the sales rep check to see if the device was working and indeed repair. It had not been repaired and the engineer's report stated that the phone had not been worked on. I noticed to fairly large scratched on top of the phone that had not been there before, the sales rep also acknowledged this, as the book-in report stated that the device was in "very good condition" with absolutely no damage.
I left the phone at CelluCity to be sent back for re-assessment. This time waiting well over 2 weeks before hearing anything from the service department. Upon tracking down a contact number for the service center, I called and spoke the manager and what appears to be the Cape Town branch. He informed me that there is extensive water damage on the device.
A device that has been meticulously taken care of, that has operated without fault for 5 months, suddenly the screen fades to black, but all the other functions still work, gets sent for repairs, gets damaged by Vodacom, now somehow has water damage.
I get quoted just over R6000 for a new device. I took my contract out over 3 years to save costs, there is no way that I can afford to pay that up front.
By this time another week had passed and the phone was sent back to CelluCity Tygervalley. I contact the manager of the service center and ask that he please take another look at the device to see if it would be at all possible to repair the device.
A week later I receive a call from him with a quote of just over R700 to repair the damaged device. I "ohk" the repair. CelluCity phone to follow up and find out if I accept the quote, I give the go-ahead.
Since then it has been a week and a half, the phone has been dispatched from the service center, but no one seems to know where it is.
I will have to take time off work again to collect the phone if it ever arrives. Then I will have a device that has been damaged by Vodacom, with no report about it.
This whole endeavor is going to cost me a whole lot more than the quoted R700 odd, because I have had to makes calls to follow up and track my own phone, take time off from work, drive back and forth and pay for a device that I don't have that is going to be damaged when I receive it.
The latest Job ***
Apple iPhone 6S 16G
Stefan de Wet

CelluCity Tygervalley have been the only upstanding people to deal with through all this. Thank you to them.

I would like to know what Vodacom intend to do about this?
