Finally free of Vodacom

Dear Vodacom

Thanks for making me see that even though I've been with you for about 10 years, your service has just gotten worse ever since I've started. Let me tell you my story.

Firstly, my contract was due to expire 2016-03-31, which couldn't have come any sooner. So at the end of February/beginning of March, I phoned customer care to ensure that my contract isn't extended but moved over to prepaid. The consulant confirmed that my contract would move over to prepaid on 1 April 2016. So, come 1 April and I received my usual data and free minutes, which meant that I didn't move over.

Still, not the end of the world, I just asked them to move me at the end of April, this time I even signed a form making it official. So finally, on 30 April I moved over to prepaid, not on 1 May as was promised, but either way, finally I was free. So I thought that I can just stay on prepaid for a while until I find something else, but apparently, when you move from contract to prepaid on Vodacom, you sit without any mobile connection for a week, or maybe it was just my luck. I phoned about 50 times to customer care and went into the Vodacom customer care centre in Centurion, where I was told it's because I'm on the new system.

So I finally decided I'm done with Vodacom and that I wanted to move away, so I thought let's try MTN. But MTN couldn't port my number to their network, because Vodacom wasn't allowing it. This all after I was told every time I phoned them that I will be able to move away. So it took me another few days to finally move away from them. Yet again, when I complained, it was because of the new system on which I was apparently on.

The last 2 months that I was with Vodacom, I was also not able to check any balances or load any bundles, which is mostly why I wanted to move, but eventually I found out that it was also due to the new system. So finally, I found out that the new system was the actual reason I had to move away.

This all after you are the most expensive of all the mobile operators in South Africa, but apparently you claim it's because you have the best network and the best service, but clearly the service wasn't there. Also, the internet was so slow that I couldn't even open up attachments from my emails. And calls dropped regularly.

Thanks for nothing. I don't want you to respond to this, since I'm definitely never moving back to Vodacom after this. I just wanted to leave this here in case anyone is ever feeling like moving over to Vodacom.
