Finally done with Vodacom forever.
It is funny how easy it is to get a contract from Vodacom, in the beginning it is like a beautiful honeymoon, but as time goes on this honeymoon changes to a nightmare. My first cellphone that I got a a teenager was with vodacom, when I started working I also went with Vodacom, when I married I also got a contract with them for my wife.
But I decided I can no longer be a customer for Vodacom, with their expensive data and extremely poor service. I phoned them a month before my contract was supposed to expire to inform them that I will not be upgrading. The consultant said that I could not give notice to cancel, but I can cancel. She stated that the cancellation fee would be R200 and something rand. My payment was R606.00 per month. I asked her three times whether I would pay the R200 and something or the R606.00 (I even asked her many times if this call is being recorded.) All three times she said the R200 and something. The most funny part was that she said she needed to speak to her line manager and I was put on hold for 20 minutes, she answered the phone and asked how she could help. She forgot that I was on the call. But I realize that it is a strategie they use to make it as hard as possible to cancel with them. My wife waited for 40 minutes when we cancelled (opted not to upgrade) her contract.
After convincing me I said ok, cancel the contract. July came and they deducted R606.00. I did not get any data or airtime. I though ok cool, she **** but now it is done.
Then the third of August came and they deducted R545.00. I queried this and the final consultant phoned me and informed me this was my premature cancelation fee. I objected with the above, and she investigated further only to ask me if I received a quote from vodacom about the cancelation fee. And I did not. They deducted my normal fee (I did not receive any data) and this now again. She admitted that I should have received this quote and there is nothing she can do. After all she only plays a small part of the bigger system that is Vodacom.
I realized it does not matter how much I explain this story and how absurd it actually sounds, even if all their calls are recorded. We will never win. But will I ever go back to Vodacom? No. Will I ever refer anyone to do business with Vodacom? No.
Cheers Vodacom.
