Fibre - After sales disaster - left without internet

When considering the different options for my ISP I had reservations over whether a new player to the fixed-line market would be able to deliver a good quality service to its customers. Putting my reservations aside, I decided to proceed with Vodacom as it was good value for money.

Since then I’ve regretted the decision, time after time. The sales team confirmed that the infrastructure provider would finish their installation by 31 December 2018, but if there is a delay at least the interim solution (LTE ****le) would provide us with 100GB internet. A week or two later a box arrives in the mail with the router in and that’s the last I’ve heard from them. They failed to log a service request to arrange the installation or to activate the sim card of the interim device. Every time I had to phone in and arrange everything myself. I’m paying Vodacom for a service, but I need to manage own installation? Why do I have pay an upfront fee of R1700 for? Being a conservative person, I started my Vodacom contract a month after their promised completion date (and ended my existing ADSL contract). Yet, turns out the infrastructure is not complete and no one at Vodacom can give me an answer. Even after speaking to one of the call centre supervisors, who promised to get back to me, I still don’t have an answer. To make matters worse, Vodacom can’t even activate a sim card. It’s been 5days since I logged the service request to activate the sim card and I’m still without internet.

We’ve been forced to run a business on Mobile Data just to keep the business and communications going. This experience has been absolutely appalling and I would recommend other consumers to stick to service providers who know how to manage customer’s activations and their expectations.
