Fed up with Vodacom

Vodacom does not even deserve 1 star.

I upgraded my phone 13 October 2016 and decided to migrate to a UChoose Flexi R200 contract beginning 1 November 2016. When I checked my bill so far online, I was debited R150 for upgrade fees which I should have not been charged as I upgraded through Vodacom Online, I then called upgrades department who agreed to refund me this amount. I got an sms saying my case was closed, when I called the accounts department, they could not see the credit and informed me another case was opened to investigate this.

Meanwhile all the calls I received were showing unknown number. I called the customer call centre to ask what happen to my CLIP and the operator told me he has now activated it. He informed me that I now need to pay an additional R9.50 every month over and above my contract which I complained about as I have never had to pay an additional amount for CLIP it was always included in my package. He advised me to speak to the accounts department. The accounts department could not help me and referred me to the upgrades department, but not before telling me there is additional line against my contract which I was not aware of. I then called the upgrade department who had no clue about what I was talking about and referred me to Vodacom Online who had done the upgrade. I called Vodacom Online only to be told everything she did was correct and it was Vodacom Bytes who had loaded the additional line. After being on the phone with Vodacom for over 2 hours, no one could help me or tell me what was going on. I asked to speak to a team leader at Vodacom Bytes, who advised me he would load free CLIP for me and call me back on 5 November with feedback regarding what is going on with my contract. He has still not called back and I have now been charged for CLIP 3 times, which is utter nonsense.

On 8 November I called the accounts department to query why I was billed more than my invoice amount and to request a copy of the invoice. I was advised that Vodacom Upgrades had charged me R81 for warehouse charges or delivery charges (it was unclear to me as I could not see the invoice). I called upgrades and explained my story to a lady only to have the call cut. I called back and received help from the only lady who seemed to have some clue about what was going on. She advised that my upgrade was processed as a new line however could not explain why I was charged for an upgrade or delivery/warehouse charges or why I am billed for CLIP 3 times.

After 6 hours of speaking to every department in Vodacom I still have no idea what is going on with my contract, why I have R400 of airtime instead of R200 (not sure if I will be charged for this) or what is being done to resolve my countless issues with Vodacom. Furthermore I have also been charged for out of bundle data on my contract which is absurd as I still have 9GB of data left and all my airtime intact.

One week later, I got another sms saying my case is closed, I called customer care to find out what was the resolution and I was told the investigation is concluded however there is still no outcome. I still had all the same issues I had 2 weeks. I asked for an escalation of the matter and I have a feeling nothing will be done. I was also advised to wait till next month and then dispute any extra charges. If this is the case, I will need to call every month because Vodacom cannot get there billing system to work.

The new system Vodacom has does not work and the call centres have no clue what they are doing. I am counting down my days until I can leave Vodacom and regret ever upgrading to remain with Vodacom. Beyond pathetic service.
