Faulty handset Huawei P8 Lite received from Vodacom

Good day. On 16/01/2016 I took out a cell phone contract with Vodacom Midrand. I took a Huawei P8 Lite handset on the contract with cell phone number ********** . Since I received the smart phone, I had problems with it. The device is freezing, it has a short battery life span and the operating system is hanging. Due to the nature of my job, I could not go into the office to return the handset, but I phoned Vodacom on various occasions whereby I was informed to bring in the device. I took in the device to Vodacom Kollonade from where it was sent to Menlyn branch for repairs. Menlyn returned the handset to the Kolonade branch with a quote of R1500.00 for the handset to be repaied. I refuse to pay for the repairs, since the phone has never worked and not even one phone call was made with this phone. I personally took the handset to Vodacomworld for a second opinion on 19/12/2016. On 28/12/2016 Vodacom Repairs informed me that I have to pay an amount of R1 994.20 as the problem was water damage. Since I was unable to use the phone from day one, it is impossible to have water/liquid damage. The handset is still in the same packaging and condition as I have received it on 16/01/2016. I don't refuse to pay the contract, but I refuse to pay for a faulty handset that I am unable to use. I have therefore stopped my debit order to Vodacom which now have led to my account being in arrears. If there is any water damage to this handset, it was caused by the repair centre itself. Further to that, the administrator did not complete any details on the contract and the amount deducted from my account (R430.00) differs from the initial contract amount of R359.00 per month. Kindly advise the way forward.
