False Promises by Vodacom

I have been a customer of Vodacom for the past 15 years and have an above average contract with them. On 6th September 2018, I proceeded to the store in Cape Gate called Vodacom 4U to arrange yet another upgrade on my expired current package and requested that my package be amended to a package of more data and a little less voice on a CAT S61 cell phone .

I was attended to by a patron of Vodacom called Marie who stated that this was possible and would cost me a little bit less than my previous contract did. I agreed to this contract and asked her to proceed, however the cell phone had to be ordered by her manager who was only back in office on the Monday and that I would receive my phone on the Friday. Friday came and went and I then decided to visit the store and enquire what had happened as I never received my phone, I was then told that the store manager had only returned to work on the Wednesday and therefore the phone would only arrive the Tuesday evening. I agreed and went on my way.

On Tuesday I received a call from Marie to say that my phone had arrived and that I must make my way to the store to collect such and bring my ID book with, however she would not be there as she leaves at 18:00 but a colleague will assist me . I proceeded to the store and arrived there at about 17:35 without any presence of Marie who had obviously left early. One of her colleagues then proceeded to fetch my new S61 phone from the office and took my ID to do whatever they do, however she then turned to me and stated that there is GOOD and BAD news, the bad news is that there is no GOOD news for me...... I was already upset with such stupid ******** comments as she then proceeded to tell me that the contract that was offered to me had since expired and the phone will therefore cost me an extra R200 a month. I then told her that this was ridiculous as we had a verbal agreement and I asked if I was to sign any documents on the 6th September which I was declined.

Apparently Vodacom offers people deals on the 6th of the month but it falls away at 00:00 and everything that is agreed to disappears without you being informed.

I actually want to cancel my subscription and move on to another service provider as they have proven to be useless on more than one occasion already and I am sick and tired of poor service.
