False adverti*****t

On the 1st of January 2026 I saw a Vodacom adverti*****t on Facebook for Two iPhone (13) with an instalment of R600. On the very same day, I started with the application since I could afford the R600. Documents were requested for the application to be reviewed and all required documents were submitted on mail

On the 5th I received a call from Vodacom Customer services to complete the application, the consultant confirmed the instalment amount, date of debit order and the contract start and end date. Since I am a new Customer, I asked the consultant to confirm again the instalment amount, just to ensure and also confirm if the instalment is fixed for 3 years, and she confirmed that I will be paying R600 and that the instalment is fixed (please listen to the recording, she called me on ***) she also explained that since my contract starts in Jan, I will pay a pro-rata of R400 and a couple of cents on the 20th of Jan and Feb going forward I will be paying R600.

In January I received an SMS that I will be paying R440, I did not have a problem because that was explain. February, I received an SMS that I will pay R789 because the was an annual increase in October 2025 ( which I did not have a contract with them at that time) I was confused but I left it. Today I received an SMS that I will be paying R989 which included the R140 for Insurance and that was a shocker. None of this things were explained to me post sale, Vodacom was not transparent and had I known, I was going to take my contract somewhere else. I called Customer services, the lady transferred me to cancellation department, Cancellation department then transferred me to Post sale department where I spoke with Lerato that logged a query with the Sales Team

I want to cancel this contract as I cannot afford the instalment, I initially app**** for a contract of R600 and that’s what I can afford. I have other commitment and will not be able to afford paying more. Vodacom is not transparent and that is very unfair to Customer, very unfair. Please cancel this contract or let me continue paying my R600 as agreed. I will not be paying over a R1000 for a used phone whereas there’s a new phone at MTN for R450. Been calling the Customer services and the last person I spoke with by the name of Nhlanhla dropped my call when I requested to speak to the Manager.
