FALSE ADVERTISING AND BAD SERVICE!!!

Good day Vodacom,

Right now I am very unhappy customer and if I wasn’t the respectable person that I am I would have used different wording.

I phoned one of your Consultants this morning about a bill that was much more than what I expected.

First of all, how do you charge someone for upgrading their contract 3 months in advance when YOU invite people to upgrade their contract. I am currently paying for two handsets till the end of this month and I am sorry to say when I was with Cell C they allowed me to upgrade my contract and continue billing me until the last 24 months run out.

They would also provide me with promotional data (which you have provided me with 5GIG data for 3 months in this case) until the contract runs out. So right now I am sitting with a bill of almost R500 which I did not budget for!!

Secondly, you advertised this package that I upgraded to, on your website as R299pm (Vat inclusive) and when the consultant that I spoke to worked out my bill it came down to the following: R192.10 for the package and R152.63 for headset instalment which is R344.73 (Vat exclusive)

This means I am going to pay close to R400 for this package. To you this might be a R100 to be as the consumer (Who has rights) it is immoral and unfair practice. It is the principle that I am concerned about and as a consumer it is unfair towards me.

If I knew that I was going to pay this much then I could have taken a different phone that was going to match what I can afford.

To put the cherry on top of this excuse of customer service, I was informed by the last agent that I need to pay Vodacom a fee to see the caller ID of all my incoming calls. This is the first as with my last handset (that I am still paying for) I was never asked for this fee and could see the caller ID’s of all my incoming calls. How shameful is this!!! And why are you the only Network doing this???

I have to say that I was very skeptical when Vodacom sent me an SMS end of April to upgrade my contract. I initially took out a contract at Autopage who moved over our contracts to Vodacom when they closed down.

I should have trusted my gut feeling and cancelled this contract and taken one out through Telkom Mobile or CellC. Since the upgrade of this contract I have had issues. Firstly you disconnected my line and I had to phone you to have it reconnected and ask for my data back. Last month you billed for data I never received and I had to phone you to get this date. This month it is the issue with this bill.

The agent I spoke to Khanyesile Mashishi provided me with a Service request number: 1/ ********** ********** and informed me that I will need to wait 7 working days for my query to be resolved. I am not prepared to wait 7 working days!!!

So for the next 7 working days I will name and shame Vodacom on social media for the poor service until I get a response.

My contact number is **********

Reviewer Update

I've received contact from Denise Sokanie from social media complaints. She gave me an explanation that makes sense. I am not going to say i am happy at this moment in time as I had to accept mediocre process of paying for two handsets when you upgrade in advance. This without any communication!!! In the end i am paying for your lack of communication and the *********** staff that works at Vodacom.

WHY couldnt the previous two consultants read your system right or give me a proper explanation. Lack of training or perhaps laziness? I will defnitely not recomment Vodacom to anyone and i am actually looking forward to when this contract ends so that i can terminate this agreement. Sad to say that I have had better service when a 3rd party (Autopage) dealt with my vodacom contract.

I will wait for my August statement and if the balance is more than R299 as the initial agreement, i will excercise my right as a consumer and escalate this matter to the ombudsman. I will be sure to share this bitter taste of service that Vodacom has left in my mouth, with everyone possible!
