False adverti*****t accompanied by worst service response.
The following is converstations had between myself and Vodacom through their facebook post, after I posted on their wall and their comment section my comment was marked as spam (posted on multiple posts to get public exposure). The conversation later goes to Gmail but will be indicated.
Me: (23/12/2017) Good day to whom this may concern,
On the 16th of December 2017 I obtained a new contract from a Vodacom shop in Umtata.
The phone I have taken is an LG G6 advertised as IP68 certified. As of this moment the phone is dead because of water damage which leads me to believe there is a fault in the seals within the phone.
Me: (04/01/2018) Good day to whom this may concern,
On the 16th of December 2017 I obtained a new contract from a Vodacom shop in Umtata.
The phone I have taken is an LG G6 advertised as IP68 certified. As of this moment the phone is dead because of water damage which leads me to believe there is a fault in the seals within the phone. I have returned the phone back to the Vodacom shop I purchased it on the 27th of December 2017. I returned the phone as part of the 7 day factory waranty as stated in my new device contract (I sent a courtesy email on the 23rd within 7 days to a Vodacom customer care email address as I was away on holiday, reference number : 00BX~XRFX)
The following is a quote from LG's website (http://www.lg.com/.../lg-g6-dust-and-water-resistance-ip68):
"The LG G6 is certified with an IP68 protection standard. These IP grades belong to EIC standards, an international standard, and are used to check the resistance of industrial electronic equipment. The letters IP came from the acronym in English: Ingress Protection. In the case of the LG G6 we are told: The first digit is 6: highest degree of protection against dust. Dust can not get into a device under any circumstances. The second digit is 8: protection against water in complete and continuous immersion. Device will withstand a complete immersion in water up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Water temperature can vary from 15 to 35ºC."
As of this moment the Vodacom shop at which I took out the contract is denying my phone claim because of water damage saying that the ad is saying dust and water resistive and not fully waterproof denying the International Standard which was advertised by Vodacom. The shop in question is Vodacom in BT Ngebs, Mthatha.
Since I've taken in the phone I have been handled extremely disrespectful, promises of being called back with news and never getting a phone call, making new excuses every time I go to the shop which is 70km away from where I live (been there 3 times in 1 week), calling and asking for the Supervisor just to be handed over to the next Consultant having to ask for the Supervisor again, having the Supervisor and Consultant discuss my case in front of me using a language that I don't understand even after myself asking for them to speak English, and the worst part for me was on the 3rd of January 2018 when I stepped into the shop as soon as they opened. The supervisor told me to wait he is calling for info just to give me info I had already received the day before, after a while a lady came to talk to me while the Supervisor continued working with another client, when telling the Consultant that I do not accept the answer given to me and that I insist on a final answer at which point she told me she is not on the clock and is not going to help me. I had to wait further for the Supervisor to help me again while sitting in work clothes waiting to go back to work. This whole discussion has been verbally recorded and is mostly quite due to service not being provided.
I have been a Vodacom client since before I can remember and considering that I currently have 2 open contracts with Vodacom I am disgusted with the treatment that I have received from Vodacom.
I am formally and publicly asking to be given contact information to the Legal department of Vodacom.
Under the consumer act I am allowed to cancel a contract if I am unsatisfied with the service provided, in which case I am considering it. I would also like to talk about false adverti*****t as the phone is advertised as IP68 but the Consultants at Vodacom is telling me the phone is not waterproof in which case the phone would only be IP66.
I hope that we can find a solution that would not have to resort to me canceling my Vodacom contract and that this is hopefully just a certain Vodacom retailer causing problems.
Regards Reghardt

Me: (11/01/2018) Good day,
Can I please have feedback on my enquire with reference number: EC-1J2G-21J4PA.
I was given that code 7 days ago and told that the turnaround date would be 2-3 working days.
I am urgently looking to get to a point of taking a decision with legal regards between myself and Vodacom as I am about to move 1000km away from the shop at which I took out the contract.
Regards
Vodacom: (11/01/2018) Dear Reghardt We have sent another request to the Repair Escalation Team to provide feedback. We do apologise for the delay in resolving your query.
Regards, Randall Cairncross
Vodacom Social Media Team -------------------------- The day after handing in the phone I received texts saying that the phone has been handed in to repairs centre and that the turnaround time would be 2-3 days, next day I received an SMS saying that my device is ready for collection at Mthatha Vodacom. As of this moment (2 weeks later) I still have not received a call saying that I can pick up the phone, this after going to Vodacom just to hear the SMS was incorrect.
The service provided was extremely poor and inconsiderate and as of this moment I am still hoping to get feedback on my initial "2-3 working days turnaround" given on the 4th of January 2018, current date is 11/01/2018.
