Failure to supply a cell phone upgrade

I did my cell phone upgrade on the Vodacom website, assuming it would be quicker and efficient compared to going into the store. I received a confirmation email for my order and was advised it would take 3-5 working days for delivery. 5 working days after ordering the device, I spent over 30 minutes on the customer care line to find out where my device was, only to be told there was no order and only a quotation was generated. This quotation was cancelled as well? The email I received is below:

Dear ***xx ******x

Thank you for your upgrade order!

Order Information:

Quote Reference Number: VODACOMONLIN- ********** ********** 08

Delivery Address:

xx ***x ******
***x ******
***x ****** ******x ***x
***x

Email address: ************************

iPhone SE 64GB
Space Gray
********** 12
In Stock

Delivery estimate: 3-5 working days depending on stock availability and area of delivery.

Track your parcel
To track you parcel, you can then call your nearest RAM Centre or visit www.ramgroup.co.za using your order number as your tracking number.

Now I ask you, what kind of excuse is it that my upgrade was never processed? Why should I follow up on things like this? I needed a new device and by today the latest. Now I am waiting for a consultant to call me back...
