Failure to remove non-existent account from Experian

My husband had an account with Vodacom (Account no.***4). That account has been CANCELLED. In applying for a bond, the bank pulled up an Experian report stating that he currently pays Vodacom SP R 406 per month. This is clearly outdated information which is affecting our affordability in getting our bond approved. I contacted Vodacom in order to have this information removed from our names- but to no avail. They do not even acknowledge communications. They can keep non-existent accounts on our name that affect our credit rating with no accountability for doing so. Can someone at Vodacom please assist in removing this information from Experian and sending me something in writing to confirm that this has been done before I take the legal route.
