Failure to disclose information
I had taken up a contract with Vodacom at Musgrave Centre for a new fibre line, as I work in the Centre, I have a pretty good relationship with the staff and Jeremy handles all my queries. Sadly my last consultation was a really bad experience, not at inception, but upon installation. Upon signing the contract with Jeremy, it was communicated with me that installation would be free and would include a router. With that said, I agreed and signed up, I paid for the service via the email portal and weeks went by without installation. I continued to remain in contact with Vodacom, they showed me email communications confirming that they've done their due diligence and that the delay laid with the contractors. Yesterday, the contractor called and asked if they can install, I agreed and a few minutes later they arrived. Upon arrival, I was shocked at their advise. They advised that they only do an installation of 30m above ground and any trenching, civil work is charged at R50 p/m. So I asked the guy how is he supposed to install if he doesn't trench, he advised that it's part of the contract. I then called Vodacom and spoke to the manager Kavish, he says that it's standard terms that I signed, that I need to hire an excavator to trench. So I asked him what kind of a stupid statement that was and if Vodacom will pay for the excavator. He said no, so I advised that I will take this further and ended the call. I then had to pay the contractor a seperate fee in order for them to complete the installation. None of these clauses were communicated to me by Jeremy or Kavish upon signing my contract , yet I am surprised upon arrival of the contractor. This is failure to disclose information on the part of Vodacom.
