Extremely disappointing experience with Vodacom Fibre

Extremely disappointing experience with Vodacom Fibre

I placed a new fibre order with Vodacom on Monday, 31 August, expecting what should have been a fairly straightforward installation. Unfortunately, this has turned into one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had with a service provider.

On Wednesday, 2 September, a ticket was logged with Vuma and my line was activated. However, Vuma had activated an existing line at the property that had previously been installed for a cottage by the previous owners. This was **not the line I needed**. I needed a new line installed to the main house.

I immediately contacted Vodacom and explained the situation clearly. The agent told me that it needed to be treated as a second line and that another ticket would need to be created. I trusted that this had been done correctly.

Thursday and Friday came, and I followed up again and again. Queries were escalated and follow-up messages were supposedly sent to the relevant technical teams, but I received no call from Vuma and no proper update.

On Monday, 7 September, I called Vodacom again. The agent put me on hold to check with the technical team and escalated the ticket once more.

Later that day, a Vodacom technician called me trying to activate the line. I explained again that I was still waiting for Vuma to come out and install the second line to the main house. He then informed me that the original ticket had actually been logged **incorrectly**. It should have been logged as an installation ticket.

So, after days of me explaining exactly what I needed and following up constantly, I discovered that the ticket had been logged incorrectly by Vodacom in the first place. The technician then had to log the correct installation ticket with Vuma.

This morning, I called Vodacom again for an update. I was simply told that there was nothing more they could do because the ticket had been logged and that I now needed to wait for Vuma.

But this is exactly what is so frustrating — **I did everything I was supposed to do.** I explained the situation clearly from the beginning. I followed up every single day. I spent hours calling Vodacom, only to find out that the issue was partly caused by the ticket being logged incorrectly in the first place.

I have also spent a significant amount of money buying additional mobile data so that I can work from home while waiting for the fibre installation, not to mention all the airtime I’ve used calling Vodacom repeatedly.

This is my **first experience with Vodacom**, and unfortunately, it has been absolutely horrible. I can’t understand how a new customer can be left chasing a service provider every day just to get the correct process followed.

At this point, I need **Vuma to contact me and arrange the installation urgently**. I should not have to keep calling every day because of an error made during the initial ticket logging.

If this is the level of service I’m receiving **before my fibre line is even installed**, I honestly have serious concerns about what the service will be like once I’m an active customer.

If this matter is not resolved and I do not receive proper feedback urgently, I will seriously consider cancelling my new contract. I cannot justify staying with a service provider that has already caused this much frustration and inconvenience before the service has even started.

Vodacom, please sort this out. I’m not asking for anything unreasonable — I just need the installation I ordered and paid for to be properly arranged.

Vodacom Fibre: The service just keeps getting worseMy experience with Vodacom Fibre has gone from bad to worse, and my issue is STILL not resolved. On Monday, 7 September, I contacted Vodacom again and was finally told that the previous ticket had been logged incorrectly — it was logged for activation instead of installation. I was told by the back office that they would log the correct ticket with Vuma for the installation of the fibre line to my actual house.I then called Vodacom on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to follow up. Every time, I was told that the matter had been escalated and that there was no feedback yet, and that I needed to wait for Vuma to contact me.Only to discover that a ticket was actually only logged with Vuma on Thursday , 10 September — and even that ticket was logged incorrectly! It was logged as a maintenance fault instead of an installation.Vuma sent me a message on Thursday evening saying that a technician would be sent out. This morning, the technician arrived, only for me to discover that they were the maintenance team. They explained that they had been instructed to investigate a faulty line. The ticket made no mention whatsoever of installing a second line to my house.I was then told that Vodacom needs to log yet another new ticket for the installation, because installation is handled by a different Vuma team.At this point, I honestly don't know what to say. How can a simple fibre installation become this complicated?Because I work from home, I have been forced to use the Vuma line that is activated in the flat. I have had to connect my router there, which is extremely inconvenient for the people living in the flat. The WiFi signal is also too far from my house to reach properly, so in order to work using WiFi, I literally have to sit outside the flat.I have already spent a significant amount of money on mobile data and airtime calling Vodacom repeatedly just trying to get this issue resolved. What makes matters even worse is that Vodacom has still not contacted me regarding my complaint or provided any meaningful assistance in getting this installation ticket resolved. This has honestly been the worst service I have ever experienced from a service provider. The constant incorrect ticket logging, lack of communication, lack of follow-up and passing the problem between Vodacom and Vuma has been extremely frustrating and completely unacceptable.I don't expect special treatment. I simply expect Vodacom to correctly log an installation request and actually follow through with it.Vodacom, please stop escalating and start resolving the problem. I need the correct installation ticket logged with Vuma and my fibre line installed at my actual house.

I haven’t been contacted by a Vodacom consultant. Im the one following up with Vodacom everyday, and issues don’t stop , new issues are created through

conflicting advice from Vodacom agents and the risk of being billed twice.UPDATE: Vodacom Fibre – Conflicting Advice and Now a Risk of Double Billing

Just when I thought this situation couldn’t get any worse, it has. While waiting for Vuma to install the correct fibre line to my house, I contacted Vodacom and asked one of their agents whether I could connect my new router to the ONT in the cottage, which had already been activated by Vuma, while I waited for the correct line to be installed at the house. The Vodacom agent put me on hold to consult the back office and came back and confirmed that I could do this.Based on the advice given to me by Vodacom, I connected my router to the activated ONT in the cottage.Today, I spoke to another Vodacom agent who told me that I should never have done this and that I was given incorrect advice by the previous agent.I was then told that because Vodacom’s system now shows two fibre lines at the property, activating the ONT at the house could potentially result in me being billed twice.I immediately asked the agent:
  • What do I need to do to make sure I am NOT billed twice?
  • What are my next steps?
  • Can Vodacom correct the situation before the second line is activated?
  • Why was I given completely different information by the previous agent after they had specifically checked with the back office?
Her response? She didn't know. She said she would escalate the matter to the Activation Department for advice. This is extremely frustrating. I followed the instructions given to me by Vodacom, after the agent specifically put me on hold to confirm the answer with the back office. Now I am being told that the advice was wrong, and I am left worrying about potentially being charged for two services.I should not have to pay the price for incorrect information provided by Vodacom's own staff. At this point, this has to be one of the worst decisions I have ever made when choosing a service provider. What should have been a straightforward fibre installation has turned into weeks of calls, incorrect tickets, escalations, waiting for feedback, conflicting information and now the possibility of double billing.Vodacom, I need someone in management who can take ownership of this entire matter, review the history of my account and calls, and provide me with a clear written solution.I want confirmation that I will NOT be billed twice as a result of this situation and that my service will ultimately be transferred/activated on the correct fibre line going to my house without additional charges.
