Even in death you cannot get contract billing cancelled

Contracts cannot be cancelled since 13 November 2023.

My mother had numerous numbers on her Vodacom account that we struggled to cancel. She contacted the telephonic line and send emails month after month - it was a struggle. We did not know who signed for the extra numbers and devices?? and who renewed contracts for her deceased husband and daughter. She had to bear the cost for many years FOR A SERVICE AND DEVICES NEVER RECEIVED!!

After she got into financial trouble, we noticed the extra numbers on her billing account and request for cancellation of the contracts. We were either told they are logging the cancellations, with no response or change leaving us to try again and again and again. Or to call the cancellations number, not to email. When we called, we were referred to the email address for cancellations... the cycle continues. Vodacom Shops could not assist with cancellations.

After a year my mother could simply not afford to pay the excessive debit order on her account... her 1 and only number she used (out of the 6 listed on her bill) was disconnected.

We had to change to a pre-paid sim card with another mobile provider.

She has since passed away. Vodacom was informed of her passing by my husband telephonically the day after, they said the account is paid in full, but disconnected the line when he asked for the call reference number... cant keep their own lines up and running? The executor reached out with regards to any claims on the estate... no response in months, and now Vodacom has a claim.

In a NUTSHELL - Vodacom failed to provide proof of who signed for the contracts, devices and apparent upgrades? But could not cancel the contracts since November 2023. Kept billing for costs my mom had to pay for over a year of taking note of the issues on her billing. Then disconnected her device, whilst keeping the account running for another year.

This is the absolutely unacceptable and it seems like customer service is non-existent at Vodacom. You need to hold the line for long periods at a time, the staff seem friendly, but they cannot sort out your problem and there is no follow up or response afterwards.
