Epic fail to give me correct advise

I had a Vodacom contract that was expiring end of July/August.

My employer wants to take over my number, but they deal with MTN. What should I do as I also want to carry on as a Vodacom client, but does not mind about the cellphone number as even as a company number, i will still have the use of it.

On the 8th of July 2016, a senior consultant by the name of Motshebi at Vodacom Midrand assisted me, I have asked her repeatedly what is the way to handle the take-over of my current number by my employer, and she insisted that I do the upgrade, and the company when ready can just note that they want to take over the number, and all I have to do then is come in for a switch of the number and a new simcard will be issued to me. I have questioned the advice, but decided that she must know best and carried on with the upgrade which was to switch to a data contract with a Tablet as an instrument as MTN will be supplying me with a new cell phone.

In the meantime, I have let my company know that all is well and that they can go ahead with the application to take over my number, but was refused by Vodacom as I have already done the upgrade. What now??

I tried to phone to Vodacom, but to no avail. Lines get cut off, or never answered. At long last, on Friday the 1st of August last I got into my car and drove from Pretoria where I reside to Vodacom Midrand to ask what I need to do to correct the situation. I was confronted by a male senior consultant, and after explaining my predicament, he was quite adamant that it is my word against the consultant's word that handled the upgrade, and that documentation will be the only proof! Wow - totally uncalled for as the only thing that I wanted done was to rectify the situation and for my company to lodge the request to take over my number.... He told me that Motshebi is not in and that there is nothing that can really be done, and if - all will take 7 working days. I answered that were willing to wait as long as we can resolve the matter.

I left as I thought it would be best to speak to Motshebi herself and was told that she would be in the office again the next day.

I cannot drive to Midrand on a daily basis therefor I tried phoning again but to no avail.

On the 5th of August, I went back again and demanded to speak to anybody in management. Margaret was the lade that helped me and was so sweet, soft spoken and understanding. She immediately knew what to do and how to resolve the problem. Cancel the current contract and re-invoice a new contract while switching my current number to a prepaid status. She immediately e-mailed the relevant person to action the request and said that the process will take a while. I left with no notification or paperwork which left me a bit worried, but trusted Margaret. She gave me her landline number where she can be reached for me to follow up on the progress of the cancellation.

I phoned the next day and day after but could not reach the Vodacom Midrand office. Nobody would answer the telephone and I was getting worried. I again travelled to the Vodacom Midrand office on the 8th of August, and asked to speak to Margaret, but she was not immediately available. Another consultant assisted me and after I demanded that the cancellation to be done immediately, somebody from the back office spoke to me and said she would handle the cancellation. I insisted it to be done immediately and that I will wait for it to be done.

She came back after app 30 minutes and confirmed that the cancellation was done. In the meantime a new contract was filled out and a new sim card was issued as part of the new contract.

Again I went back to the lady that did the cancellation and she again confirmed that the cancellation was done. I think her name was something like Vanesh. Thumbs up for her! She was very professional and promised me that she will copy me in in the e-mail that she sent to the lady in the cancellations department - which she did.

In the meantime, I have phoned MTN to confirm that the cancellation was done and that they can carry on with the request to take over the number.

Today is the 10th of August 2016, and STILL IS MY NUMBER NOT AVAILABLE. Reference Number C-0461-3VL6Q. MTN has sourced an instrument for me and is able to keep it till this Friday, 12August2016. How long will this *********** unprofessional non-service carries on? If the first senior consultant knew what she was doing, and executed the correct procedure, none of this circus would have happened, and I wouldn't have had to travel two extra times from Pretoria to Vodacom due to *********** service. Vodacom, will you reimburse me with my petrol as well as time spent and wasted in your offices?

Please, I need this matter resolved soonest.

Marié Henning

**********
