Early Upgrade Confusion

My previous contract with Vodacom had 8 Aug 2017 as the initial expiry date. On 3 May 2017 I was advised I was due for an upgrade and thought why not try and save some money sooner rather than later. As a single mom to a daughter in Grade R, every cent counts so was quite eager to save a few R100 ( I was planning on keeping my same package, but taking advantage of a huge sale on devices, so found a deal R 200 less than what I was paying ). I went into Cellucity in Cavendish and asked all the right questions, especially if I will start paying the new premium straight away. The guy checked with Vodacom and assured me that my new lower amount will kick in straight away. The upgrade order number was 1- ********** ********** . I was then able to work the extra rands into my new budget, allowing me to get a few much needed items for my daughter.

Imagine my shock, horror and dismay to look at my phone this morning and find an SMS saying that the original amount was debited off my account!!!! This is **************** or EXTREME DISHONESTY. Both values I am disgusted to find attached to this reputable company.

I immediately called Customer Care on 111, where the agent politely advised that this is not VODACOM's problem, that it was MY PROBLEM THIS WASN'T EXPLAINED TO ME PROPERLY and that I will CONTINUE TO PAY THIS HIGHER AMOUNT until August this year.

My question is simple. Why not be UPFRONT about your terms and conditions. Why ENCOURAGE an early upgrade when there are no financial benefits to the consumer, only to VODACOM. Why answer my direct question regarding when my lower amount will be billed with an OUTRIGHT lie?!!

I have stuck with Vodacom through the years, believing I was tying myself to the best Mobile Operator out there. I guess my loyalty is now SHATTERED. I will be moving on to another Operator as soon as I am able, I just cannot accept dishonesty on this level.
