Droidboost Service **** - I did not subscribe

Today I noticed that my airtime was extremely low. On the 1 April I had R350.00 airtime, I used R149 to buy 1GB data and today I am only left with R30. I barely made any calls in the last 7 days. So I went onto the Vodacom website to ask for a call back. When Vodacom phoned I explained the situation to them, only to be told that my GPS/minutes is been used to download stuff. I informed the lady that is impossible as I have data, plus I barely ever download anything. I also use wi-fi at work. I was then cut off. I logged another request for a call back, explained everything over again, only to be cut off again. About 30 seconds later I received a sms stating "you have been unsubscribed from Droidboost service with effect from 2017-04-07." Having no idea what this was, I googled it, only to find the below complaint on HelloPeter. (I hope the individual who wrote the below does not mind be copying and pasting their email, but it is the best way to describe what has happened.

"DROIDBOOST R7 - subscription ****

I'm writing this with great disappointment from vodacom mobile phone security services. Ive recently bought airtime (29/05/2016) for R55, only to find out some of it has been daily going to some subscription(Droidboost R7) which I've never given my consent to. Now seems like no one from Vodacom can do anything about this especially about getting my aitime back but to only promise that vodacom will stop this service. If vodacom can stop this service why can't you protect your customers against this ********** to start with? I think someone must account for this situation, since I've never subscribed to such a service. So I'll appreciate as a vodacom customer if you can get to the bottom of this issue and give me sufficient feedback."

Vodacom how can this happen? As mentioned by the other complaintant, if you can cancel the subscription how did your security system allow it in the first place?
