Dreadful Service

All I want to do is purchase another 5GB for my data line. How difficult can it be? Obviously too difficult for either myself or Vodacom !!!

Suddenly after years of purchaing data I am told that 'Unfortunately I am not the main account holder.......'.

I rang Vodacom - after having been through two 'customer service' personel who also could not add data onto my account - they put me through to a third person - then they dropped the line. I refuse to go through another 2 calls to be sent to another person - why in gods name doesn't the first person take ownership and solve my problem. Then of course - you cannot send emails to them anymore (I sent 6 emails before realizing that maybe they had discontinued this service) - I think they just couldn't cope with the deluge of complaints - so I still don't have any data

Eventually I got through to someone that could help - they bought 5GB data for me but charged me R399 instead of the R289 that they should charge.

As much as I said it cost R289, she insisted that I must pay R399.

My problem? I now cannot write to anybody because they have discontinued the email facility - what a really ridiculous company

Thank you - this message heartened me so much that my wife and I crowded around the cell phone all of yesterday. We took it in turns throughout the night to attend to the phone - we took two hour shifts allowing one to sleep whilst the other was standing guard over the phone. Kate (who was on duty at the time) woke me up at the dead of 6h00 am so that we could both once again, await your call with the trepidation that such a call deserves. It is now 11h00 - 24 hours after your very welcome message and I must admit that my attention span is wavering and there has been talk of a joint suicide pact - to start believing that Vodacom, although commiting themselves to calling - no longer loves its clients is a thought that I cannot bear. We shall be ringing 'Die with Dignity' very shortly, but would appreciate your phone call before doing this - I would hate my son having to take over my Vodacom contract without first, putting all things in order.

Well - another night pacing up and down, Kate and I taking turns sleeping, hoping - nay praying for the elusive telephone call to arrive - but to no avail - my emotions all of a jumble - disheartened, disappointed, overlooked and the like. The left-side of my brain i.e. the logical part kicked in saying it's only a ****** phone call but then a strange thing happened at about 7h00 this morning - I received a telephone call from Switzerland from 'Live with Dignity' a company borne as a result of 'Die with Dignity' and they told me that I was quite right in pursuing this transgression. At some stage they added, you will need to buy more data which Vodacom now don't allow you to do and even send you a monthly invoice with the wrong amount - and I will get even more frustrated seeing that I have allowed Vodacom to initiate a direct debit against my account. Well I have got to admit to both Kate and I immediately feeling much, much better - even elated that someone had even read my musings, especially because it is damned obvious that Vodacom doesn't. I am now confident that I am in the right here and would really, really like to raise this with Vodacom directly rather than using Hellopeter - but of course they now don't allow one to write emails to them. SO, I shall continue what I consider this futile quest but will consider it all the same

Another day, another night, another vigil crowded around my cell phone - constantly checking that I haven't inadvertently switched it to silent, making sure that is charged - actually getting Kate to go out to purchase another cell phone just incase this one breaks down - so that I can quickly move the SIM card from the broken to the new one. This is now becoming obsessive and think I am developing OCD as a result - I'm also losing my tan by spending so many hours inside. Kate suggests maybe a trip to the Doctor to confirm my suspicions about OCD but to be honest, after waiting for so long, I fear leaving my cell phone even to go the loo. Should I phone them myself because I would hate to miss their call whilst I'm messing about trying to phone their call centre - decision, decisions - how infuriating. If I ring could that be deamed as a defeatist attitude??? Let us see what happens tonight and tomorrow methinks
