Dragging out repairs on top of the range phone
I have a problem wuth my samsung s20 ultra, die charging port is defective. Does not fast charge and headphones only work with the plug one way around. The phone was tested with me present at canalwalk samsung store as well as vodashop tygervalley repair centre. Phone was given in for the repairs along with charger at tygervalley vodashop on friday 22nd of January 2021. I was told 2 to 3 days for the repair. Eventually of the following week wednesday I get a sms quote for R757 for repairs on the phone. I called in and asked why I have to pay as the phone is still under warranty. Was told the problem lies with the charger itself. And the charger only has a 6 month warranty. I told them it can not be the charger as the was tested numerous times with other chargers with the same result. Mentioned again the problem with the headphones. I was then told to bring in the headphones as well so it can also be tested. And that it is definitely the charger. I agreed to bring in the headphones and also another fast charger in order dor tjem to show me how all my fast chargers are apparently faulty. This was a conversation going on for two days as the person answering the phone in the repairs department has no idea whats happening and took over an hour to reply with my first questions and i had to call back the second day as i got no reply from them anymore. So I went to the repair shop on thursday 28 January. Showed them again whats wrong with the phone and that other fast chargers also dont work. The lady told me she can now see that the charging port is faulty. It will take another 2 to 3 days for repairs. Later got a sms stating that the phone is now sent away to an advanced repair centre. Today, Friday 29 January, i get a phone call, R760 for repair. I asked what did they find is wrong with the phone. Only thing they can tell me is faulty parts that must be ordered. I asked why can this not fall under a warranty claim, they tell me tjey dont know, i must phone vodashop myself and ask them. They only do the repairs. I am sick of phoningback and forth for a repair to be done on a flagship phone not even 1 year old. There is no way the faulty charger port does not fall under warranty. This is absolute pathetic service from vodacom. I truly hope this gets resolved asap!!
