Double debited due to changing debit order details

We changed the banking details and debit order date for a cellphone contract on 31 July for the month of August. The original debit order was for 3rd of every of month and we now changed it to the 7th of each month.

Vodacom have now debited my account twice after calling me saying my account is in arrears. I called the customer care 3 times, the first time I was notified that we are in credit of R854.20 and was then transferred to accounts but that was unsuccessful. I called back a 2nd time and was then told we had missed a payment in March (not correct which is what I told the woman), she then came back saying that she was incorrect as we had missed a payment in July ( also incorrect as the debit went through on 7 August as changed). She was not very helpful and clearly didn't know what she was doing!!

We called back a 3rd time and were told that we had missed a payment in July again (once again, INCORRECT!) so I said I wanted to speak to a manager. The manager was apparently busy and I spoke to another woman. She then had a different story saying that because we changed the account details and debit order date on 31 July we now automatically have to pay 2 months up front!!!

My husband was not informed of this when he called in to change the details. So I said that I want a refund to which she rep**** that if they refund me, I will then be arrears!!! How will I be in arrears if I have paid for July now and how am I expected to pay 2 months up front with NO NOTICE??

I do not understand the logic in this as there was 4 days notice (from 31 July to 3 August) to change the date and account of the debit order. The fact of the matter is, is that the department that deals with changing debit order details is *********** and negligent as they did not disclose any of this information to us.

We did the same thing with Cell C and there were NO issues whatsoever.

I want this matter to be dealt with today. If I do not receive a refund I will be canceling the contract and I will NOT pay any penalties, as this is an error on your side!!
