Dont use vodacom if your concerned about your credit score

Im quite disappointed with Vodacom. This use to be my favourite network. My debit order bounced on the 2nd of May to which I promptly resolved the issue. I settled the bounced debit order the following business day due to their accounts department being closed over the weekend. I even asked them to deduct the late debit order fee so that it doesn’t affect my credit score. Regardless of my best efforts, I was advised by the vodacom agent that my credit score will be impacted by it showing as a missed payment with the credit bureau. When I told her that I didnt miss my payment, and that their accounts department is closed so I have no way of resubmitting my debit order until the following business day. If their department was open the same moment my debit order bounced I would have settled it there and then but you leave me with no choice. Then I was advised even if I settled my debit order the same day, my credit score will still show as missed payment by the credit bureau. This is so unfair as it can happen to anyone and I am putting my best foot forward to settle this bounced debit order but yet Vodacom has no mercy on its customers. Even though I pleaded with them because I am busy with a home loan application which is at risk of being declined because of this, it seems like vodacom has no interest or compassion. I am yet to see if my credit score is going to be affected and if this is the case I am cancelling my contract and never taking any of their contracts out again! If I am wrong and vodacom does not impact my credit profile, I am willing to take down this review. I will post updates. Ive been a loyal customer with Vodacom for many years with no problems where it comes to payments, and now that I need vodacom to show me mercy with not affecting my credit score, it seems like they anyway just going to do so. I really liked vodacom’s service but this is a deal breaker if they so heartless. If you are concerned about your credit score and in the process of taking out a car or home loan, I recommend don’t use vodacom.

Hi there.

Thank you for taking my call. However my query has not been resolved.

I was advised by the agent I spoke to that regardless if I settle my bill 1 second late, they will still report me as missed payment as the system automatically reports it.

I have contacted the credit bureau to which they confirmed that doesnt sound right. He says that its at the creditors discretion to report me especially if I settled my bill promptly without wait after my bounced debit order.

So now im gana have to pray vodacom doesnt report me. But mark my words if they do I will NEVER upgrade or take out any new product with vodacom. I really loved this network but its a deal breaker if they have no grace on me. Its not like I left my bill unsettled the entire month. I settled it the soonest I could possibly settle it based on the working hours of their accounts department.

I will leave a follow up review after I notice any changes.
