Don't take out a contract at Vodacom

I have been trying to cancel my contract with Vodacom for the last 4 months (since October 2023). They are more than willing to open cell phone contracts in stores, but in order to cancel you need to phone. First of all I am a pensioner who tries to save where I can. I have spent so much money on phone calls and they are still getting back to me. I now need to pay my bill every month, but no longer need the contract. How do I continue to pay if I am a pensioner and want to cancel. I don't know when this will stop. This is putting my account in arrears and they are then unable to cancel it. They give me an amount to pay every time I phone. I have paid all the amounts (with the hope of them cancelling the contract) and even confirmed it with one of the consultants, but if I speak to the next consultant it's a new story and I get a new amount! I am fed-up! Don't ever take out a new contract at any Vodacom store.
