DON'T switch to Vodacom Fibre!!!!

This will tell you my story with Vodacom Fibre! Here's my email to their legal team with no response to date. I took photos and videos of my poor connectivity, social media is my next step!

Good Day

I am writing to you as a very disappointed fibre customer.

I have been a Vodacom client from the very first time I got my cellphone and have always been happy with my experience. So much so, that when a man called Z****** A***xx showed up at my door offering Vodacom Fibre, I let him in to explain the benefits of switching to Vodacom.

We were offered an unshaped, unthrottled 100Mbs line at R599 per month and we were on Afrihost with a 50Mbs line at R727 per month - I thought that it made perfect sense, so we switched over. That's were the trouble started. We initially were told by Z***xx that the switch over would take 15 mins max, only to find out that it could take 24 to 48 hours. Having to use our own paid for data to work as my wife works completely from home and I do from time to time. Then came the connectivity issues. Slow speeds as well as signal dropping and us having to restart the router multiple times a day. We logged calls and eventually our router had to get a software upgrade. Connectivity improved slightly, but the speed of the line was terrible.

We were also told that the router would easily pick up in our room some 20 meters away, but that was not the case and we had to fork out more funds to buy a signal booster - which doesn't help that much when your initial signal from the router is poor to begin with. My wife had multiple issues working from home sitting right next to the router.

I then decided to call Vodacom and cancel my contract, because I was not getting the service or speed that was promised. The salesmen also promised a ****le as part of the deal with data every month - just in case of internet outages (this we still have not received). I no longer want to be connected with Vodacom and now you want to charge me 21K to get out of the contract??? You were the ones not delivering the desired speed (not even a 10th of it). Images and videos attached to prove it as well as conversations on whatsapp between myself and the salesmen. (He was just doing his job, so please note that no blame is going his way in this correspondence)

My request is thus that the penalty amount should be waivered, and Vodacom should allow me to end my contract on 1 June 2024 as per the calendar month notice. If I did receive the connectivity speed, I would be a very happy customer - but this is not the case. Nor did anyone from your offices send someone out to check out my connection. With my wife's work from home arrangement, we cannot afford to have sub standard connectivity, when much better was promised and signed for.

Please acknowledge receipt of this email and please get back to me with your feedback.
