Don't sign up with Vodacom, their customer service is **********!

It saddens me that I must resort to writing a negative review about Vodacom to get this issue resolved. I have been a Vodacom, Pay As You Go customer for at least 20 years.

In October 2014 I signed up for a two-year Pay As You Go contract at the Village Mall branch in Hartebee****rt to qualify for better rates. I was given a Sony handset which from the start had software issues. Vodacom in Menlyn worked on the handset but the issue was never resolved. Eventually, out of pure frustration I left the phone in a drawer and revert to my previous handset. Since I was tied into a two-year contract I decided not to renew when the contract runs out.

In August 2016 I asked one of the consultants at the Village Mall branch to ensure my contract will not be renewed. I was advised that the contact was due to end at the end of October 16 and assured it will not be renewed. Another payment was taken in November. I went back to the shop in November and was re-assured that no further payments will be taken after November 2016.

In December 2016 another payment request came through which I then cancelled with my bank. Now more than a year later I received a text message from a debt collecting company saying I owe them R870.31 and that my name has been blacklisted with the credit bureau. The monthly installment was only R211.50.

After all the issues I have had with this handset I now need to deal with debt collectors as well! This is unacceptable and needs to be put right by Vodacom. I do not see why I should be paying these debt collectors, when I do not owe Vodacom anything. I need my name cleared and compensated for this inconvenience. I trust that Vodacom will act on this review and resolve it amicably.

It has been 13 days since Vodacom's legal department made contact with the problem yet to be resolved! They only answer the questions they want to respond to. I have not heard from Vodacom since I rep**** to them 31 Jan 18. Today I received a text message saying the matter has been handed over to debt collectors by Vodacom. This makes no sense when the matter is yet to be resolved and btw you already handed me over to other debt collectors! What is wrong with you people?
