DON'T DEAL WITH VODACOM

In 2014, I cancelled a data contract that I had held with Nashua Crown Mines and which had reached the end of it's term. Nashua confirmed cancellation on e-mail. I have e-mails to prove this, which e-mails have been forwarded to Vodacom who took over the contract. What I did not receive from Nashua and as I learned from Vodacom some four or so months ago was a cancellation acceptance form. Vodacom who had taken over all their contracts had also not received this cancellation notice. After many threats and having to deal with many very rude people trying to explain that this contract had been cancelled and I have a new contract under a different cell number, I have now been placed in the hands of debt collectors threatening me with further legal action.

I at the time of cancellation, I took out a new contract for additional data while at the at the same time renewing my new cell phone contract as I had done over the many years I have been dealing with Vodacom. How this came out of the woodwork some 3 years after it all happened, only Vodacom knows. I finally, after many attempts managed to get through to a supevisor who politely informed me that the money had to be paid despite the cancellation, and informed me at the same time that Nashua had closed down so if I didn't pay, my only source was to go to the consumer council.

So guess what Vodacom, I am not going to pay you and when the current contract I have with you for both data and my cell phone usage amounting to R644 per month is over, I shall not be renewing it and will never deal with Vodacom again. If this is how the company makes it money, then I want no part of it.
